Fake bilingualism

Promoting bilingualism is a hot reason for demand more funding for money wasting program by SCOLAR (Standing Committee on Language Education and Research).

Why do I say SCOLAR waste the taxpayer money? If Hong Kong is a real bilingual city, why do only two columnists (Andrew Shuen Pak Man of Apple Daily and Lion Rock Institute and me) write their personal blog in English and Chinese? Where is other internet users in Hong Kong?

The problem comes from our "politically correct" politician. If Hong Kong Government really wants to promote bilingualism, why does Hong Kong government only assign AM channel for BBC World Services (RTHK Radio 6)? In Singapore, Mr. K.Y Lee assign a FM channel for BBC. This shows the difference.

In Malaysia and Singapore, every politician can express their view in public by Malay, Chinese and English. Some members of parliament in Malaysia, write articles in English or Chinese or Malay in the blog. In Hong Kong, politician complain their employee poor English, but only speak Chinese in public to show their loyalty to Beijing.

Everyone knows the importance of bilingualism for our future development, Hong Kong people want no more slogan. Please stop wasting our money and do something really promote the bilingualism. The rubbish program by SCOLAR is throwing our money into the ocean of bureaucracy.
