The Chinese propaganda machine People's Daily urged Chinese people stop the anti-France movement and calm down in editorial on Sunday.
Who did advocate the anti-France movement? The Chinese propaganda machine. Now, the same machine advocates the totally different points of view to stop the potential nationalism movement.
This is Chinese style patriot games. The Chinese is not the first time to play the games. When US bombers wrongly bombed the Chinese Embassy in Serbia in 2001, the Chinese government used the similar way to press US. Chinese rulers want to press France and other western countries to cooperate with China during Olympic Games again by the old method.
Although Communist can easily get the people support by patriot games, this is a high risk political weapon. More and more people in China do not satisfy the government performance in anti-corruption, property rights protection and price control. The price of food is increasing without control. The government official can take over the land of farmer without any compensation by administrative directive. The property rights law of PRC fail to protect the property rights of ordinary Chinese citizen due to faulty legal system. When the patriot games is out of control, the people may target their own government rather than the French.
Mr. Hu understands the risk of the games. The Government tries to stop the games, but the people really want to stop it? The nuclear reactor in Daya Bay nuclear power plant may be easier to control than the patriotism of Chinese people. (Oh! the reactor in Daya Bay plant is made in France, so Chinese people may demand the government to stop it, hahaha)

You said,"when US bombers wrongly bombed the Chinese Embassy in Serbia in 2001...." Well, I am not sure how many people have the chances to read your blog. But I am the one not buying the version manufactured by NATO that the bombing was just a mistake. I think the situation is more complicated than you can imagine. And I recommended you read the following:

It is just funny how someone can make such quick conclusion that the bombing was "wrongly." Is that facts? Or is it true? I bet you don't know.
