Hi, readers from HKGolden

http://forum3.hkgolden.com/view.aspx?message=1332448&highlight_id=0&page=1

I think some readers click here due to the post in HKGolden above.

As the first post in this blog said, you may find "broken" English in here. You can point out my grammatical mistake in comment section.

Anyway, some HongKongers may think "good" English as "complicated" English, please look the following reply in the post above:

英國人?咁既修辭技巧只算中三程度...不過冇辦法...佢要掩飾文法唔掂既事實,唯有用最淺易既英文....

Oh! My God, only HongKonger may think simplest English is the way to hide my "broken" English. In HongKonger point of view, complicated English is "good" and "advance". Really? For daily use, simple and clear English is enough.

On the other hand, this post in HKGolden explains the cause of Hong Kong poeple English in decline, the people only laugh other people writes blog in "broken" English and never encourage it.

You never jump into water, you never know how to swim. Only a few Hong Kong people understand the importance of "drinking water" in learning process.

Lack of humbleness

The gentleman in this video clip comes from mainland China. His comment on Hong Kong in the video makes Hong Kong angry. Most of comments in this video shows the anger of Hong Kong people.

I try to tranlsate the words of mainland gentleman to English. He said that Hong Kong was game over without the preferential policy of Beijing.

In the beginning of China economic reform, many Hong Kong people invested in China, and introduced the knowledge and business network to China. This is an important key of China success. Without Hong Kong under British colonial rule, no one think China could reform its economy as fast as today. The arrogance of Chinese people hurts Hong Kong people loyalty towards China.

Chinese is lack of humbleness. This may causes many troubles in foreseeable future. Tibetan, HongKonger and Taiwanese all are the victim of Chinese arrogance.

The origin of Chinglish

Every foreign visitor in China may see some roadsigns with nonsense English translation. Someone calles this kind of English as Chinglish. It mixs the English vocabulary with Chinese grammar.

So many Chinese and Hong Konger finish college education in US, UK, etc. Why does no one stop Chinglish spread over the country?

1. Most Chinese students in overseas study IT, engineering or science, you may find some of them in faculty of business administration. Only very small portion of them choose social science or arts related subjects. Very rare parents may want their children to study Social Science or Art because of the unclear career path of the graduate. Simple English is enough for the life of engineering students or science students in university. Do you think they know how to write "standard English" for everyday life?

2. On the other hand, this is also the problem of working attitude. Most of Chinglish translation is product of computer program. Chinese in mainland China just enter the Chinese expression into computer program and use the result without modification. They do not take serious for their work. Please look Hong Kong, roadsign with Chinglish translation may be under fire of some magazines like Jimmy Lai's Next magazine.

Chinglish is a product of Chinese culture. As foreigner, you can laugh at this. As Chinese, you have to think the cultural problem behind the Chinglish and try to find a solution.

Dick Wolf may considers Law and Order: Hong Kong?

Dick Wolf launched so many overseas version of Law & Order. Law & Order is the longest life prime time TV drama series about professonal lives of police and prosecutor. Dick Wolf licensed the Russian and UK version of Law & Order.

Hong Kong is a city of "nylonkong" and so many popular crime movies, include academy award winner the departed come from Hong Kong. Law & Order: Hong Kong may attract many TV lovers in Hong Kong, US, China and Taiwan.

On other hand, Hong Kong has its uniqueness for TV drama series. Most of Hongkongers are ethnical Chinese, and Hong Kong is still using the same common law system as UK and US. Hong Kong police force is similar to UK police force. Hong Kong version of Law & Order may adds some unique elements from Hong Kong culture, but still keeps the main theme of Law & Order: the procedural justice of criminal legal system.

As a fan of Law & Order in Hong Kong, I hope Dick Wolf may consider Law & Order: Hong Kong to impact our outdated TV industry.

"Small Countries" become big a political headache of Chinese Government

Prague Daily Monitor: Czech PM's Tibet badge angers China

Czech Republic Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek announced that he would wear Tibetan flag badge during his trip to the Beijing Olympic.

In Chinese government point of view, Czech and other "small" EU members become its big political headache. China market is not important for Czech. Czech can exports her goods and talents to other EU members. If Chinese government overreact to Czech Republic action, EU members may boycott the Beijing Olympic. Chinese government has no way to stop Topolanek's action.

More and more European politicians and athlenes take similar action during Beijing Olympic. How does Chinese government response to them? This is much more exciting than the games in the stadium.

East Germany style Chinese Olympic Opening Ceremony Uniform

So many Chinese netizens are disappointed in their Olympic Games team opening ceremony uniform. One creative Chinese internet user describes the uniform like tomato scrambled egg. Tomato scrambled egg is very common dish in China.

If Chinese Olympic Committee had authorized Adiads to design the opening ceremony uniform, this bad taste design would not appeared in Bird Nest stadium. The taste of Chinese under Communist regime still likes the other former communist countries in Europe, such as East Germany.

This time, Adiads provides "East Germeny style" product to Chinese Olympic team. I suggest DIE LINKE, a hard core communism political party in Germany, to find the same designer in China to design their party uniform. In the meanwhile, they also should find Adiads as their sponsor. Thank for Adiads and Chinese designer, they successfully reborn the DDR fashion style.

Chinese police saves Jack Cafferty

Many people in the world begins the final countdown to Olympic Games. Beijing Olympic Games organizing committee sold the last batch of tickets in Beijings. Meanwhile the police tried to control the crowds, the police interfered with Hong Kong journalist work, took away some reporters, and attacked some of them.

The video clip by TVB clearly shows the quality of Chinese police cannot satisfy the requirement of Olympic Games hosting country. If China is ready for Olympic Games, why did I fail to find the different between the "public security bureau officer" and thugs?

Jack Cafferty of CNN described Chinese as thugs. Chinese police provides very strong evidence to support Jack Cafferty's statement. Jack Caffarty should thank Chinese police.

CSSA and Chinese Embassy

In Grace Wang dispute in Duke University, DCSSA did not only attack Grace Wang. Scott Savitt, a scholar and ex-journalist also was the target of DCSSA. Why does DCSSA become the Red Guard of Duke University?

CSSA in many major universities is under controlled by the student from mainland China. Ordinary Chinese Citizen (not include Hong Kong and Macau) do not have enough money to pay high cost for overseas education. Most Chinese students in major universities are the son of communist official. Due to this special relationship, they have to support communist party even in western countries.

On the other hand, the Chinese embassy tries to control Chinese organizations in other countries. For example, so many Chinese commerce associations in Indonesia were under the control of Chinese embassy before anti-Chinese movement in 1965. Most of Indonesian Chinese may tell you that the Chinese embassy in Jakarta is the source of troublesome because Chinese government shamelessly intervene overseas Chinese community for political reason.

I highly recommend US government and UK government to review the student visa of the member of the organizing committee of CSSA. No country wants the Red Guard to threat other people basic human rights. On other hand, most of overseas Chinese do not want to be controlled by communist party in western world.

Who do mix up politics and Olympic Games?

This photo was taken by Martin Oei on 21 April 2008, 1500HKT. (C) Martin Oei, 2008, All Rights Reserved.

This banner is owned by Cheng Kin Shing, a member of DAB, Beijing sponsored political party in Hong Kong and member of Eastern district council. This banner urges Hong Kong people to support Beijing 2008. It is a typical example of politics hijack Olympics.

CCP supporters in Hong Kong and western countries accuses Tibetan and human rights activist mix up Olympic with politics. If they think Olympic Games should not be political battlefield, please demand DAB withdraw all similar banners in Hong Kong first.

Chinese Patriot Games

The Chinese propaganda machine People's Daily urged Chinese people stop the anti-France movement and calm down in editorial on Sunday.

Who did advocate the anti-France movement? The Chinese propaganda machine. Now, the same machine advocates the totally different points of view to stop the potential nationalism movement.

This is Chinese style patriot games. The Chinese is not the first time to play the games. When US bombers wrongly bombed the Chinese Embassy in Serbia in 2001, the Chinese government used the similar way to press US. Chinese rulers want to press France and other western countries to cooperate with China during Olympic Games again by the old method.

Although Communist can easily get the people support by patriot games, this is a high risk political weapon. More and more people in China do not satisfy the government performance in anti-corruption, property rights protection and price control. The price of food is increasing without control. The government official can take over the land of farmer without any compensation by administrative directive. The property rights law of PRC fail to protect the property rights of ordinary Chinese citizen due to faulty legal system. When the patriot games is out of control, the people may target their own government rather than the French.

Mr. Hu understands the risk of the games. The Government tries to stop the games, but the people really want to stop it? The nuclear reactor in Daya Bay nuclear power plant may be easier to control than the patriotism of Chinese people. (Oh! the reactor in Daya Bay plant is made in France, so Chinese people may demand the government to stop it, hahaha)

Fake bilingualism

Promoting bilingualism is a hot reason for demand more funding for money wasting program by SCOLAR (Standing Committee on Language Education and Research).

Why do I say SCOLAR waste the taxpayer money? If Hong Kong is a real bilingual city, why do only two columnists (Andrew Shuen Pak Man of Apple Daily and Lion Rock Institute and me) write their personal blog in English and Chinese? Where is other internet users in Hong Kong?

The problem comes from our "politically correct" politician. If Hong Kong Government really wants to promote bilingualism, why does Hong Kong government only assign AM channel for BBC World Services (RTHK Radio 6)? In Singapore, Mr. K.Y Lee assign a FM channel for BBC. This shows the difference.

In Malaysia and Singapore, every politician can express their view in public by Malay, Chinese and English. Some members of parliament in Malaysia, write articles in English or Chinese or Malay in the blog. In Hong Kong, politician complain their employee poor English, but only speak Chinese in public to show their loyalty to Beijing.

Everyone knows the importance of bilingualism for our future development, Hong Kong people want no more slogan. Please stop wasting our money and do something really promote the bilingualism. The rubbish program by SCOLAR is throwing our money into the ocean of bureaucracy.

Nazism in China

Please click here for Chinese version.

If you can understand written Chinese, please click the following links.
中華需要納粹(China needs Nazism)
中國納粹黨圈子(Chinese Nazi Party Group in Sina China)
小說:浴火重生之納粹華夏(Novel: China reborn from Nazism)

I found above links by Baidu, by entering "納粹中國" (China Nazi). Although "anger youth" (憤青) have not organized "Chinese Nazi Party", the links still show the potential for nazism in China.

In modern Chinese history, two important political movements involves extremism, the first one is "Boxer" in 1900, another one is "cultural revolution" in 1967. So many red guards in China do not think they do the wrong thing during cultural revolution, and tell the past to their children like heroic story. On the other hand, Chinese government declines to claim boxer did the wrong thing before 1900. Therefore, some young internet users in China accept the Nazism without shame. If no one stop China before Olympic games, the extreme nationalism may finally becomes Chinese version of Nazism and made the world is not safe to everyone. The people's republic of China still control some nuclear weapons.

Western world should tell China, please stop irrational and crazy nationalism before Olympic Games. If Chinese government declines to stop the extremist, the Beijing Olympic would been ruined. Please say no to Chinese extreme nationalism for the peace of the world.

Hi, everybody!

Welcome, this is my blog in English.

Why do I write the separate blog in English? Under globalization, everyone have to prepare for exchange view with people from other countries. English is the common language for most of internet users. That is why I start to write blog in English.

On the other hand, I should try to express myself in English because I am British Citizen. To keep writing and thinking English is important for keeping Britishness for British National in Hong Kong. I encourage every British National (include British National (Overseas)) to write blog in English.

Although I am the product of British colonial education, my written English is not good as Chinese. So, you may find so many spelling and grammatical mistakes in this blog. If you find any, please leave comment. I try to improve the quality of this blog.
